The Dogue de Bordeaux moves into AKC Working Group July 1, 2008!

There are only 4 LEGITIMATE registries for the Dogue de Bordeaux' in the United States.

FCI- FCI is international (this is NOT FIC)

AKC-FSS- This is the foundation stock service through the AKC

USBC- This is the oldest USA club registry and has been turned over to the AKC

UKC- United Kennel Clubs registry

***If a dogue does not have a registration from one of the above registries, I would not even consider buying it as you may have no idea what you are getting. The AKC is the direction of the breed in the US. Only dogues with 3 generations of the above accepted registries within their pedigrees will move forward into the working group once we are completely accepted into the AKC. Dogues with less than 3 generations of accepted registries within their pedigree will remain in the FSS database and be unable to compete at AKC events. Litters born to dogues with unacceptable registries within their 3 generation pedigree will also stay in the FSS database and also will not be able to compete in AKC events. All "reputable breeders" are now registering their dogues and litters with the AKC to fulfill this requirement. Please check before purchasing a puppy to see if it will be fully AKC accepted and that it has a complete 3 generations of AKC acceptable registrations within it's pedigree. Additionally, once the breed moves into working group, UKC registrations may not be accepted to register with the AKC.***

The following registries are not recognized by the AKC or the DDBSA. Use of these registries is not recommended in ANY capacity. The DDBSA advises against purchasing Dogue de Bordeaux puppies or adults, or contracting with Studs who are registered with any of these registries. The AKC will not accept any of these registration bodies into the AKC FSS. The DDBSA has been advising owners and breeders of the pending acceptance into AKC for many years and stressing the transfer of registration to AKC FSS.

* Some of the above in red are strictly puppy mill registries and should be completely avoided, in our opinion. Dogs with pedigrees from these registry services have unverifiable pedigrees and ANYTHING can be registered with them, including mix breed dogs registered as pure bred and dogs with unknown lineage (again, this is our opinion). The above statement does not include show registries that require you to "register" with them to show with them.
